On Tuesday August 29, 2026, our school community will observe Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

We invite all students, teachers, and staff in Grades 7–12 to wear an orange shirt to school tomorrow.

Why We Wear Orange

Orange Shirt Day originated from the story of Phyllis Webstad, a Northern Secwepemc woman who had her new orange shirt taken away on her first day at a residential school in British Columbia. Today, wearing orange represents a commitment to recognizing the history and ongoing legacy of Indigenous residential schools in Canada.

It serves as a collective reminder that Every Child Matters—honoring residential school survivors, remembering the children who never returned home, and reaffirming our commitment to reconciliation and mutual respect.
