Stars Video Game Wake A Thon

Students of Barrhead Composite High School have the opportunity to participate in a community fundraising event this year, via a video game wake-a-thon. This event will take place within the school from 4:00 pm Friday Nov. 29 until 8:00 am Saturday Nov.30. We are fundraising to donate to STARS, which has impacted lives of many of our community members, particularly being a rural setting. Students will be required to raise a minimum of $20 in pledges in order to participate in the event.

Participants will need to supply their video consoles, computers and/or TVs for the event, and the school will ensure power. There may be a few school or staff-owned systems available as well. Please note the junior high students do not have class on the 29th, and thus will need to be brought to the school for 2:00 pm in order to do gym set-up.

Students will need to register with the online fundraising page with STARS, at the following link: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/stars-foundation/p2p/BCHSWakeAThon/

Any paper pledge forms will be due no later than 3:30 pm on Thurs Nov 28, turned in to the office or Ms deBeaudrap. Please ensure that all cheques are made payable to STARS, not the school. A pizza supper and a pancake breakfast will be provided, as will a small concession, but students are encouraged to bring snacks for themselves for the duration of the event. They will not be allowed to return if they leave campus.

There will be a variety of tournaments and games to take place throughout the event. Prizes will be available for these, as well as for the top fundraiser. Our goal is to raise $2500 for STARS, but would also be happy if we surpassed this goal!

Additional parental supervision will be necessary throughout the event, in five hour shifts and for making breakfast. If you are able to help out, please email alix.debeaudrap@pembinahills.ca or contact the school at 780-674-8522. Permission forms will be available on PowerSchool, and must be accessed through a web browser, not the app, in order to complete them.

Please note there is a set of rules for students to abide by, and any student who has been suspended this school year is ineligible to participate. Students must be in good standing academically (not failing multiple courses) and with acceptable attendance (=<75%) Thank you for your support in helping make this an exciting event for the school community!

Students can register as participants here at the STARS Wake-A-Thon Fundraising Event.
