We invite all students, teachers, and staff in Grades 7–12 to wear an orange shirt to school tomorrow.

Why We Wear Orange

Orange Shirt Day originated from the story of Phyllis Webstad, a Northern Secwepemc woman who had her new orange shirt taken away on her first day at a residential school in British Columbia. Today, wearing orange represents a commitment to recognizing the history and ongoing legacy of Indigenous residential schools in Canada.

It serves as a collective reminder that Every Child Matters—honoring residential school survivors, remembering the children who never returned home, and reaffirming our commitment to reconciliation and mutual respect.

Jennifer Stoby – our Green Certificate Rep will be coming to BCHS on Friday October 16th at 11:50 AM in Mrs. Mast’s room – Room 56W to explain Green Certificate.  Any  interested students and parents (parents must sign in at the office) are invited to attend.  Any parents that are interested but unable to attend this meeting, please email Mrs. Mast and she can connect you with Jennifer Stoby who does run online meetings when required.

You must be 15 years of age and have completed AGR 3000 which is a 1 credit Agriculture Safety Module.

You must have completed HCS 3000 (Job safety)  to apply for any of the job opportunities below – email Mrs. Bondarchuk if you do not have this and she will get you signed up with Safe Gen online as soon as possible!

The following employers are looking for students to join their teams :

• Westlock Motors -Westlock Alberta – October 12th deadline– RAP Auto Service Technician
  (must have class 5 drivers license)
• RCM Condo’s (this was previously posted) – Vega Alberta- October 8th deadline-RAP Carpentry positions (must
  have class 5 drivers license)
• Rocky Mountain Farm Equipment – open until filled – Westlock Alberta – RAP AG Service Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician (prefer to have class 5 drivers licence
  • Please state  what position/s you are interested and why on your  cover letter and if you are approved into off-campus learning and have your HCS 3000 course.  Students can also indicate what flexibility they have in their school schedule to be working during the day time, please indicate that on your cover letter and if you have a drivers licence.

Please email your Careers Paperwork, Cover Letter and Resume to Mrs. Bondarchuk or drop it off with her in Room 47 before the deadline stated above

• Post-Run Lunch: Following the run, all students can enjoy free hot dogs and water to refuel and celebrate our collective effort.

Don’t forget to dress comfortably, wear your running shoes, and bring your toonie on September 24th!
