Student Support Services
Student Services provides Academic, Social, Emotional, Behavioral and Vocational Supports for all students from Gr. 7-12
Supports are provided by a number of people, both within and outside of the school structure:
Roger Manuel and Shannon Rentz (Assistant) coordinate academic supports for all students. They are responsible for tracking all coded students and providing supports as necessary. Roger is also in charge of coordinating and supervising all Program Assistants.
Karen Ladan and Heather Miller are the BCHS Counsellors %u2013 Karen is working .4 FTE and Heather works .8 FTE. Karen and Heather provide various forms of personal counselling supports to all students at BCHS. They also provide consultation and information for staff and parents.
Trudy Gammel has a .5 FTE position as the BCHS Career Technician. Trudy coordinates career fairs / events and also provides career-related and post -secondary info and support for students and staff at BCHS.
Donna Erickson is a .8 FTE coordinator of our Positive Reflection Room (Gr. 7-9). She supervises and coordinates behaviour and academic supports for students who are struggling in the regular class.
Dez Bozak is the coordinator of our MCC (modular course centre). She supervises and coordinates additional credit modules from a wide variety of subjects.
Shannon Schmidt coordinates ESL (english as a second language) and K and E (knowledge and employability) courses both on-line and in modular form.
BCHS also accesses numerous out of school supports, as is needed. Examples of these supports are: Pamela Griffiths (Family School Liaison), Don McGillivray and Steve Gokiert (Behavioural Consultants), Darleen Olson (Aboriginal Liaison), Rob McGarva (PHRD Psychologist)
